We thoroughly enjoyed working on this fascinating project with expert geologist Suzanne Raynaud. Suzanne had approached us via our literary communications site épic etc. to translate a book that she had co-written with marble specialist René Fabre on the subject of marbles that were used in the estate of Versailles. More precisely, those coming from the region where we are based: Occitania.
She was specifically looking to translate what was quite a technical book into relatively easy to understand, plain English, whilst of course, maintaining its accuracy. On top of this, she needed to have the translation supplied in an inDesign document and to adhere to quite strict deadlines.
The project was a challenge that we lapped up. We learnt so much about Versailles, the marbles from our region and elsewhere, as well as their properties and geological origins too. The final printed version looks magnificent and is an excellent read for anyone interested in Versailles or with a passion for marble and geology.
It was a pleasure to collaborate with Nathalie and her team on this work. I thank them for their punctuality and for having carried out a good translation in an easy to read English, whilst maintaining the precision and style of the original version. We are equally happy with their work in Indesign which helped us gain a lot of time.
